Hello, Fred being AWESOME today and like... not gimpy? Yea? YEA!

So I haven't updated very much at all. I work all the time and when I'm not working--I am sleeping, at the barn, or with my boyfriend. Fred is getting better-ish. We had started doing shockwave therapy on him and the new vet told us that the shockwave was NOT working. She suggested x-raying his foot and was surprised the old vet had not. And what did we find? An abscess. Remember the severe thrush he had in that foot? When we treated it with iodine, it hardened the foot before all of the thrush could be treated and kept a pocket of it in his foot. The pressure caused him to be that lame for months...which is why he did not seem to be getting any worse or better. He was just...lame.

So, for the past [almost] 3 weeks we have been draining it. He is SIGNIFICANTLY better but not 100%. I'm not sure how long it will take for him to get completely better. The farrier is coming out on Monday and should be able to make sure everything has drained out of his foot. I'm going to see if there is any shoe we can put on that foot to help, etc. Hopefully I can end my show season with him. Huntseat. That's the plan.

That's him about a week ago. Comparable to his old lameness videos, he looks fantastic. He had an awful head bob before and was extremely gimped. If you don't remember: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7URmS56I8Js

:) YAY! Hope everyone is doing well.

Did I ever tell you you're my hero?

Please, still read my last entry (if you're my friend). It is important-ish for my lj buddies to read.

I found out something pretty sad today. A lesson horse from my old barn named "JR" passed away on Tuesday. He had to be put down because had been sick for a while and quit breathing. He was a great horse and was also considered Fred's "boyfriend" at the old barn. I used to take lessons on him and also showed him a bit when I first began riding there. He was my buddy and favorite horse at that barn. I hope he rests in peace.
